Wine and Hop Shop Community Involvement

At the Wine and Hop Shop, we don't just pride ourselves on our top-notch customer service. We also take great care to be a strong, supportive member of our community.

The following are some of the initiatives the Shop proudly supports. Please reach out if you have questions or suggestions. Thanks!

Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development

Nehemiah is a local organization that supports all people, especially black men and black families. They educate the community about racial disparities through programs like Justified Anger, help people reintegrate into society once they are released from prison, and help fund African-American entrepreneurs, among many other initiatives. The Wine and Hop Shop will donate 1% of all sales from 6/1/2020 to 12/31/2020 to aid these worthwhile efforts.

Goodman Community Center Fritz Food Pantry

Each fall, we host Hoptoberfest, a hop-themed homebrew contest. We solicit prizes from the community, thirty homebrewers get their beer judged, and a couple winners get the chance to brew their beers at One Barrel Brewing and Working Draft Beer Company. It's a fundraiser for the food pantry at the Goodman Community Center. We, along with our brewers and sponsors, raise over $1,000 each year to help provide meals for our neighbors.

Dane County Humane Society

Each spring, we host our Stout Contest, a stout-themed homebrew contest where we solicit prizes from the community, thirty entrants get their beer judged, and a couple winners get the chance to brew their beers at One Barrel Brewing and Working Draft Beer Company. It's a fundraiser for Dane County Humane Society. We, along with our brewers and sponsors, raise over $1,000 each year to help house, rehabilitate, and re-home animals and wildlife.

WORT 89.9 FM Community Radio

The Shop is a proud sponsor of WORT 89.9 FM community radio. Not only does WORT provide amazing content, like I Like It Like That, Democracy Now, and Mel and Floyd, they also do a great deal of good in the community, such as giving a voice to those who typically don't have one, providing valuable sources of information, supporting local initiatives, and playing great music!

Wisconsin Public Radio

The Wine and Hop Shop is a proud sponsor of Wisconsin Public Radio. WPR plays many types of music, provides great sources of information, and conducts super informative interviews.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

The first Hoptoberfest was a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County. Over $700 was raised to help them match mentors with kids of all ages.

Charitable Auctions

The Wine and Hop Shop also donates items to many charitable auctions. If you are holding a fundraiser and would like to inquire about a charitable donation from the Shop, send us an email.
